Mr. Karel Dyba

Mr. Karel Dyba worked as an assistant professor at Prague University of Economy from 1964 till 1971. There he received his Ph.D. in economy in 1973. From 1972 till 1984 he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Economy of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.

In 1984 he moved to the Prognostic Institute of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and worked there as leading researcher. Between 1990 and 1992 he worked as Minister for economic policy and development ot the Czech government. In 1990 he also became director ot the Institute of Economy of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. He was also named the president of the Czech Economic Association and he served in that function till 1996. In 1992 he was elected into the Parlament for the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and became Minister of Economy in the first government of Vaclav Klaus.

Since 1997 till his nomination for the post of the permanent representative of the Czech Republic at OECD Mr. Dyba worked as a private consultant mostly in the fields of investment banking and strategic economic consultancy. In 2007 he took the post of the permanent representative of Czech Republic at OECD.
